Everything else. Toolkits, calculators, downloads, glossaries.
When you need an answer faster than an article can deliver one. The Resources hub is where we keep the tools — the calculators, the checklists, the definitions, the PDFs — for the moments you’d rather skip the prose.
Reference material — for when prose is the wrong format.
Most of what we publish lives inside one of our three series. But some of the most-asked-about things on our site aren’t articles at all — they’re tools, definitions, and downloadable starting points. This is where they live.

- Basis (Cost Basis)
- What you paid for an asset, adjusted. Determines the taxable gain when you sell — and, with inherited assets, gets a “step-up” at death.
- Bunching
- Stacking multiple years of charitable gifts into one tax year to clear the standard-deduction threshold. Typically paired with a DAF.
- Backdoor Roth
- Non-deductible IRA contribution followed by an immediate conversion to Roth. The workaround when income exceeds direct Roth limits.
- Bond Ladder
- Bonds bought with staggered maturity dates so cash reliably comes due at intervals. Useful when funding known future expenses.
- Beneficiary Designation
- The name on the account form. Overrides your will for retirement accounts, life insurance, and some bank accounts. Most-skipped review.
- Buy-Sell Agreement
- Contract between business owners that controls what happens to ownership when one departs, dies, or becomes disabled. Funded with insurance, typically.
